Could we be looking at an iPod 3D later this year?

Interesting bit of scuttlebutt. Originally obtained from  Macotakara  a Japanese blog reports of source at a company which provides LCD's for Apple that production has on a small glasses free 3D panel similar to an LCD shown recently by Sharp corporation, presumably for the iPod.

With the upcoming March 27th release of the Nintendo's “3D DS” it could well be that Apple is trying to make a play, but I have grave doubts. Apple with all its pretend secrecy would have been very happy to have had that particular revelation leaked. It's too big a selling point in the wake of all the competition their about to face.

Also I don't think the technology is there to make a truly comfortable mobile 3D experience. Apple is not going to put their brand in the hands of an immature market. Maybe we will see a tiny 3d version of the iPod Nano. That would be in my opinion much more likely.
