Asus rolls out its EEE Slate on Amazon for $1099

We were delighted with the EEE Slate presentation at CES earlier this month. Now the computer maker is rolling out its Tablet/Slate PC hybrid at Amazon for the low low price of $1099. The Tablet sports a 12.1 inch touchscreen display, Core i5, 4GB of ram and a 64GB solid state storage drive.

The problem with all that muscle is the toll it takes on the battery, The EEE Slate contains a 4 cell battery that claims a rather disappointing three hour charge. Not necessarily a deal breaker but something the truly mobile user is going to have to balance with other factors such as ease of use and wireless connectivity.

The EEE Slate is only the first of Asustek's EEE releases, we should see the EEE Pad Slider which is more of a true tablet running Android OS on Nvidia's Tegra 2 Processor for between $500 and $700 sometime mid May.
