Apple iPad2, Charging an Extra Benjamin for Retina Display?

After finding some new SKU information in the Best Buy database, tongues are wagging and fingers flying around tech monkey sites like Crunch Gear and Mac Rumors. Could Apple really be asking for an extra $100.00 for the new iPad2 configured with the higher resolution 2048x1536 Retina Display?

Reading over the articles, (recommended) I think you'll find it a little humorous that with each new rumor or piece of information the preceding rumors are suddenly taken as fact. Seems no one questions the idea of the SD card (other then yours truly) or that that Apple will employ its A5 processor in the iPad2 as has been rumored recently.

I sincerely hope that Apple does not try to hold us hostage to its Retina technology. I may be the only one who thinks so, but I see Apple the iPad2 and the entire iOS line at the very edge of a great fall. With the legion of competition at their backs they need their customers to be more then satisfied with the new products.
